Graduate Application Process

Apply online

We want to know about you? What motivates you, what are you passionate about and what is important to you.

Include a copy of your academic transcript, cover letter and cv, include information about your work experience, extracurricular activities and answer a few or our questions.

Offer & Onboarding process

Applications close Sunday 16 April 2023.

Following this date, candidates will be screened and some will progress to the interviewing and site visit stage. Prior to offer, successful candidates will need to complete our pre-employment check process which includes a drug and alcohol test, references and other screening. We will support you through each step of the process.

Offers will be made in May 2023 with start dates that can be flexed around you and your summer plans.

Shortlising

We review all applications that we receive and aim to get back to you with an outcome of your application within two weeks of the closing date.

Video Interview & Assessments

Shortlisted candidates are invited to complete some online assessments (you get to have a practice beforehand) and a video interview. The video interview is our chance to learn even more about you. Just be yourself.

Interviews

Why are you wanting to be a NZ Steel graduate? This could be one of a number of questions you may be asked. The interview is a chance for us to get to know why this is the place and grad program for you. Don’t be afraid to ask us questions too.

The interview process maybe a little different this year – either in person or online. Our team will provide you with an update.

Pre-employment checking

Nearly there. We will complete some reference checks, Ministry of Justice vetting and ask you to complete a pre-employment medical at our 24/7 onsite medical centre.
