Tour Information
New Zealand Steel conducts site tours for Schools and Universities; we are no longer able to offer plants tours for the general public. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.
If you have a particular interest in a plant or area on site, please let us know at the time of your enquiry.
New Zealand Steel is a 24/7 operational site; the safety of visitors and our employees is our top priority. There may be unforeseen changes in our operational areas which could restrict access for tours. The final decision on what is included on the tour will be made by the Tour Guide at the time of the tour.
All tour participants /visitors need to be of reasonable fitness as the tour involves a lot of stairs and walking. In the interest of safety, NZ Steel reserves the right to refuse entry to our site to anyone in a state deemed unfit by our Tour Guides. Wheelchair access is not available on site in operational areas.
Visitors are expected to respect Company property and staff at all times. The Tour Guide/Manager can stop the tour immediately and escort the group off site if necessary.
All tour group participants must remain with the Tour Guides at all times. The group must NOT leave site at any time during the tour unless it has been organised prior to the visit.
Clothing Requirements
All visitors are required to wear:
- Full-length trousers & shirts i.e: No stockings, tights, ¾ trousers, dresses, skirts, T-shirts or singlets.
- No head gear i.e: No hoodies, beanies or caps.
- Closed-in, flat, sturdy footwear i.e: No high heels, ballet style shoes, sandals or jandals.
Safety Gear
New Zealand Steel will provide all safety gear needed for visitors. Hard hats must be worn whilst on site and high viz vests must be fastened up. (Any tour participants /visitors wearing religious head wear must have something organised to enable a hard hat to be worn securely during the tour).
Photography
Photography is not permitted on site in any operational areas onsite at any time.
Mobile Phones
Mobile phones are not to be used during the tour (they may be used during the lunch break).
Age Restriction
You must be over 12 years of age to visit New Zealand Steel.
Onsite Transport
If travelling by bus, vans etc, please allow room for the Tour Guides. (The ratio is: 1 Guide for every 6 visitors). NZ Steel can provide a 10 passenger van for onsite use if available and arranged prior to your visit.
School Groups
